I sent a private message to Jenni telling her that recent research into
asthma indicates that early, aggressive treatment seems to help prevent
lung damage that lets asthma escalate. BF kids can unfortunately get
asthma. BF helps reduce the incidence, but it doesn't eliminate it in a
highly allergic family. I had written in the past about a granddaughter
who delayed solids and ate very limited things when she finally ate "real"
food around age 3. By age 5 she has developed asthma. I like to think
that total BFing for a prolonged time helped keep the asthma at bay until
age 5. It didn't help the atopy tho. Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
