It may not have been low in the people he studied. Did their babies have
colic? Or was he just doing general milk-supply research? I know my own
milk supply was very low in late afternoon/early evening if I hadn't taken
the time to nurse often at that time of day for the previous few days.
He thinks there is another explanation for the phenomenon, which
>apparently occurs worldwide.
I also dispute this. I think any anthropologist who studies infant care
and feeding will tell you that "traditional" societies don't have babies
with colic or late afternoon/evening fussiness. It isn't just Mali.
