Congratulations to Barbara Heath on the publication of her excellent new book,
Hidden Lives: The Archaeology of Slave Life at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar
Forest, just out from University Press of Virginia. It is a fine case
study, available in softcover, reasonably priced, and handsomely produced.
It is also extremely well written. Great work, Barbara!

I also note with favorable interest the new look for the journal
Post-Medieval Archaeology. After 31 years of pink covers, the blue with
reverse white type and new trim size makes for an intriguing face lift.
Most handsome--and of course there's good substance to the content as well.
Nothing as racey as the Dudley Castle condoms this time, though . . .
