Dear friends,

Does somebody know why almost all the sculptures and paintings of the
Virgin breastfeeding Jesus (whatever the period) have the "scissors' hold",
which has such bad effect on positioning?
Is it a worldwide gesture from time immemorial, or has it a religious meaning?
