The University of Montana's Bee Alert Program anticipates hiring two field
technicians in support of research being conducted at Oak Ridge National
Laboratories, TN and at Sandia National Laboratories, NM.

These positions are for 10 months, starting as soon as July 1, 1998, with
possible renewal for 1999. We are looking for people who can assist in
field trials to be performed by teams of chemical, electronics engineering,
and microbiological scientists. Although world class specialists in their
own fields, none of the ORNL research group has practical experience in
working with honey bees or bumble bees. A key member of the Sandia group
is a beekeeper, but has no experience with bumblebees - a proposed test
species for some greenhouse studies to be conducted at Sandia.

We primarily are looking for students who would like the opportunity to
participate in some world class, highly innovative, multi-disciplinary
research. The appointments would be similar to an internship or
cooperative education experience. Although employed by the University of
Montana, the successful applicants would be stationed at ORNL or Sandia
(one position for each site). Experience with the management and handling
of honey bees or bumblebees is highly desired.
