JOB ANNOUNCEMENT...LACTATION SUPPORT DIETITIAN/CONSULTANT.  This is a new position within
the clinical nutrition dept. of Children's Hospital Oakland (CA), a 180+ bed pediatric
hospital.  Provide both comprehensive medical nutrition therapy and lactation consultation
services to inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients and their families.  Includes
screening for nutrition risk, nutrient intake analysis, medical nutrition therapy, and
patient/family education.  Perform  breastfeeding assessment and intervention to correct
breastfeeding problems.  Provide nutrition and lactation education to professional staff
including nurses, dietitians and physicians through conferences, inservices and continuing
education.  Regular, full-time, days.  Salary dependent on qualifications and grant
funding.

Requirements:  BS in nutrition sciences or related field, RD status.  Three years of
clinical dietetics experience, pediatrics preferred.  Board certified as Lactation
Consultant by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.  Three years
experience in maternal/child health care.  Excellent written and verbal communication
skills.
