Guess I'd have to say I'm cynical and pessimistic, at least this week -- I
thought the message of the New Yorker cover (female construction worker
nursing her baby on her lunch break) was supposed to be -- look at the
ridiculous extremes the breastfeeding fanatics will have us accepting if we
have this legislation mandating breastfeeding breaks for working mothers.
Because everyone can see that there are some jobs (lots of jobs??) in which
it is totally inappropriate to have a breastfeeding baby around, like a
construction worker on a high-rise building. I think the cover is majorly
anti-breastfeeding.
