I am a hospital based IBCLC. My partner and I make or receive about 200
phone calls each month, and are paid for telephone time the same way we are
paid for seeing patients (in or out pt.); we receive an hourly wage. The
hospital sees the time we spend on follow up calls and visits (not charged
if the mom delivered in our hospital) as an important factor in patient
satisfaction. We get lots of good comments on the follow up questionnaires
and in letters written to our supervisor by satisfied parents. Our
department is excellent PR for the maternity services of the hospital.
Good luck with your program. Anne Stiller
