There is no reason to stop breastfeeding or pump and dump when taking flagyl!
Even the AAP (a very conservative organization) 1994 article (shortly to be
revised) says to "use with caution" NOT, "contraindicated".  Even the "use
with caution label" should/will be changed.  There is no evidence that the <2%
of maternal dose in BM harms the infant.  I use full dose IV flagyl in 800 gm
infants without problems.  I have a hard time seeing how the tiny amount in BM
will harm an infant!

When I get back to the office on Mon 3/2/98 I will post some Flagyl articles.
