the Sunday Chicago Tribune metro sction has a very interesting article on
the process of liciencing... they are discussing the matter of
perfusionists... these are people who run the heart lung machines.

     it is clear that licenses are an issue for insurance reimbusement and
licensure is a matter of legislation and needs to be important to the
legislators for it to happen.

     certification is discussed a possibly more important for setting
standards.
