HI All,
This kind of garbage makes me so ill.  Take away the baby because s/he is
small even tho the Dr says baby is OK, simply because CPS (child protective
services) doesn't have a clue about growth curves and isn't willing to
listen to the Dr or the family or look at the family history.  This make no
sense, and makes me angry.  I really feel for these parents.  I think if it
were me, I would high-tail it out of town in a hurry since it seems obvious
that this group is not willing to look at the facts.
Well, geesh, I guess I'd better start keeping a low-profile around here.
I'd better not tell anyone that PJ is still almost exclusively BF, and that
he has pretty much stopped gaining weight (been at 22 .5 lbs for 2-3 months
now) and has really slowed down in his growth too.  Guess I ought to be
careful that I not get accused of neglecting and abusing my 13 mo old, even
tho he is doing wonderfully developmentally (physically, emotionally,
socially) and is beautifully healthy.  Oh, and I'd better not tell anyone
that I BF Ben for 39 mo, tandem nursed, co-sleep with both my younger boys,
had a homebirth and homeschool!!!  Of course I am a terrible mother and it
is obvious I am horribly abusing my kids.  (but let's not look at the fact
that none of my kids are dirty, unkempt, hungry, stupid, insecure, clingy or
whiny, ill all the time, uninformed about the world, or bruised and battered.)
Methinks it is time for people out there (not US of course) to get a clue
and look at the whole picture.  What really kills me, is when the childrens
protective agencies get so involved in cases like this (where they don't
belong) but then do not listen to the neighbors and family members calling
them repeatedly about Ms "X" next door who routinely beats her kids out in
full view of others, her house is a garbage dump and the kids look like they
haven't eaten in weeks.  They get involved when the kids die, tho.
Too little too late in some cases, and way out of line on others.

On a rant becuase I have reported abuse only to have nothing done and then
watch in horror as the ambulance drives up to take a baby to the hospital
and police to take mom to jail.
