There are several studies which suggest that infants who are breastfed
and whose mothers smoke are *healthier* than infants who are bottle fed
and whose mothers smoke.

With all due respect, incidentally, what does a neonatologist know about
it? Considering their practice population, they know no more about the
effects of smoking during breastfeeding than I know about the effects of
surfactant (which means, something, but not enough to stand up at a
conference and make such a sweeping statement).
