Diane's posting on mom breastfeeding while taking chemo prompted me to
remember a news program that I watched this weekend. The topic was about
pregnant mothers who have a form of cancer & decide to continue the
pregnancy AND also take the chemo. Out of the I believe, 24 mothers
followed, all of their babies have been born healthy & have remained so.
However, of course, long-term studies are still to be seen.

The program focused on one mom who was expecting 2nd child & was found to
have breast cancer. Mom had a mastectomy of one breast & took chemo for
the appropriate time during pregnancy. They even showed a picture of her
hairless. (I couldn't have done that on national TV). They didn't
mention breastfeeding at any point in the program. It was very
fascinating.
