Just wondering if the mother is still experiencing post-partum bleeding
and/or been checked for retained placental fragment? Any possiblity of
Sheehan's?
It sounds as if it is also possible that the baby is malnourished and weak
enough by now that the act of breastfeeding is taking more effort than his
little body can currently muster. Cup feeding, finger feeding, SNS,
*whatever*! added to suckling at the breast in combination while baby gets
his strength back. Mom could look into milk bank breastmilk if she doesn't
wish to use ABM during this time.
I second the notion that the baby needs to be FED while everyone figures
out how to get breastfeeding back on the right track.
