Hi there Querida,

Always nice to hear from Oz. I did my senior thesis for my geography degree
on Western Australia, and although I fell head over heels in love with the
entire continent in the process, I've yet to visit. I believe my family is
quite certain I'd not return home. As it is we are now on an island in
Alaska, and it is true that when you come to Alaska, you never go all the
way home.

Ahem. Anyhow, I am responding to your comment about wanting to receive
items for the NMAA newsletter. I am prompted to say that it seems that
there are a lot of us trying to do the same thing (promote bf) but
re-inventing the wheel, as it were, each time. I, too, am trying to write
a newsletter, although it's not even off the starting blocks yet. So much
work to do for bf on such a small island! Anyway, without reprinting
another person's newsletter word for word, there must be a way for us
newsletter-writers to join forces somehow and share ideas, information,
etc. Lactnet may not exactly be the forum; perhaps Lactivist?

Here in Sitka, bf rates are around 95% in hospital but they plummet to
something like 20% at 6 weeks pp and get even worse after that. So there is
much work to do.

Cheers,

Nancy Kramer
