Michelle:  I don't have any references on this issue, but I bet whoever
told her this doesn't have any, either.  Maybe she should ask them for
their rationale.  As has already been stated, the only risk is of having
acquired HIV or HepB (or C?) during the tattooing. She should get tested
for those in any case.  And she should breastfeed (unless she is HIV
