I'm looking for references to studies regarding the physical health of
19th century populations, specifically Midwestern and/or military
populations. Right now I'm trying to model health conditions at a 1840's
fort in northeast Iowa, using historic accounts of disease, physical activity,
diet, trauma, and such. This might be a chapter in my thesis if I can find
enough information. In any case, I would like to compare what I find to
other studies dealing with issues of historic health. Any help is
appreciated.
