Does anyone out there have any sources that contain drawings of fetters
(shackles) used during the antebellum period? I've been shown a pair
recovered from within the walls (i.e., behind a plastered wall) of a
19th-century farmhouse, along with fragments of a Confederate $10 bill
(1864). I was hoping to compare its style with other examples if
drawings or photos of others are available.
Thanks,
Brian
