My story on Lou Brock's autograph:

I and one of my best friends (I'll call her Sue) were pregnant together.
Both of us had family histories of milk allergies, but when we delivered (22
hours apart), she insisted on formula-feeding (never did give a good reason
why...). I use her for several examples in my bf class (including pointing
out that her 2 boys have asthma, milk allergies, braces, etc. while mine have
none of these!).

In this story (true, I might add), we were both Cardinals fans. In July,
when our boys were 4 months old, the Cardinals had a big rally planned in a
newly opened plaza in downtown St. Louis. They were arriving back in town
after a long winning road trip. The rally was to culminate at about 2 pm
with the arrival of the team to sign autographs. Two o'clock came and went.
The Cardinals were stuck in a summer downpour in New York, and their arrival
was pushed back to 4 or 5 pm. Now, this was summer in St. Louis, temperature
was 90+, traffic after 3 was the pits. Sue had only brought enough formula
to get her through 3 pm. Baby was hot, thirsty, and getting VERY cranky.
She finally had to leave to go home to get formula. And with the traffic,
etc., knew she couldn't make it back downtown in time.

I called my husband, who worked on the fringes of downtown, & asked him to
meet me when he got off work. I borrowed a paper diaper from Sue (I had one
of those "once a week" poopers, so hadn't even brought a diaper bag!), stayed
downtown snacking on the freebies they provided to soothe the restless crowd,
nursed my baby in the shade of a tree, and ended up not only getting Lou
Brock's autograph, but having a great evening downtown with my husband!

This is the story I use to either "catch the dads' attention", or to answer
the question, "does bf tie you down?" It also exemplifies a "real" advantage
for the dads who aren't quite convinced by the research!

Thanks for letting me share my story!

Carol (whose 12-year-old keeps asking, "Why must you talk about my entire
history with 800 people all the time?")
