Well, believe it or not, I actually got a REAL reply to my recent emailed
letter to the editor re: the Newsweek special edition. If this doesn't
encourage others to write, I don't know what will!
Please, everyone! Get those letters in. Here is what they wrote back to me.
April 23, 1997
Dear Dr. Auerbach,
Thank you for your recent letter. Each week
we try our best to produce the most accurate,
balanced and responsible magazine in our field.
Occasionally, however, errors do occur and we
appreciate readers bringing such matters to our
attention. When a reader raises a question about
Newsweek's accuracy, we refer the matter to our
chief of research to determine if and how an error
occurred. If it turns out that we were in error, we
correct our permanent files and take steps to prevent
a recurrence. In cases where we believe wider
dissemination is called for and space permits, we
will print a correction in our letters column.
