Also of possible use:

1. Jerome Murphy-O'Connor The Holy Land 1992 (3rd edition) Oxford
University Press ISBN:0-19-285269-8
This is a great "quick and dirty" reference for most archaeological sites
in Israel, with maps, etc.

2. Nachman Ben-Yehuda The Masada Myth: Collective Memory and
Mythmaking in Israel 1995 University of Wisconsin Press
ISBN:0-299-14834-3
While not archaeology specifically (except for Masada), this book provides
an interesting context for archaeological pursuits in Israel in general.

Good Luck,
Heather Van Wormer
