Jacquie,
I'm not a doctor or a psychologist, but the situation you describe in this
family seems to me a very definite recipe for disasters of several kinds.
We all know that the recipe for bf success includes support in addition to
motivation and education. This father appears not only to not support bf
but also appears to not want to support his wife or his child. An LC can't
solve that problem; but perhaps a counselor can. I don't know the proper
protocol for it, but some steps need to be taken somewhere that cause a
suggestion be made to this couple that they seek counseling for this.
Unless the father magically bonds with his new baby in the early weeks, as
you (and I) pray he will, there will be greater problems with this family
than the consequences of a 3-day separation and/or total cessation of bf.

Just my thoughts,

Nancy Kramer
