For those of you that work on statewide archaeology week events, here's somethin
g you might be interested in - a poster contest at the SAA meeting in New Orlean
s this April. I'm passing along this notice for Ann Howard, Chair of the Archae
ology Week Subcommittee of the SAA, Public Education Committee. (If you haven't
considered this meeting, check it out. The schedule and associated activities
look good).

The Archaeology Week and Network Subcommittees of the Public Education Committee
, and the Council for Affiliated Societies, are organizing "Celebrate Archaeolog
y 1995-996," a display of Archaeology Day, Week, or Month posters as part of the
ASS Annual Meeting Public Session, April 13, 1996. Awards will be given for th
e best Poster(s).

The display will feature posters for events scheduled from June, 1995 through Ma
y, 1996. Please send three (3) unmounted posters from your state to:

Ann Valdo Howard, Public Archaeology Programs Manager
        State Historic Preservation Office
        1800 W. Washington
        Phoenix, AZ 85007
(Ann is the Chair of the Archaeology Week subcommittee)

Deadline for submitting posters is MARCH 1, 1996

If your poster for April or May of 1996 will not be ready by that date, please c
all Ann about your schedule.

If you need additional information, please feel free to contact:

 Ann at (602) 542-7130, or
Beverly Mitchum, Chair, Network Subcommittee, SAA PEC (412) 527-5586
Pat Mercado-Allinger, Council of Affiliated Societies and SAA PEC Member (512)
 460-6090

We are hoping for lots of entries.
