"The Gothic Revival in New England"
The Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities 1996 Abbott Lowell
Cummings Symposium on Material Life
 
The Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities is requesting
proposals for papers to be presented at the 1996 Abbott Lowell Cummings
Symposium on Material Life, "The Gothic Revival in New England".  The day-long
symposium will be held on Saturday, November 16, 1996, at the Museum of Our
National Heritage in Lexington, Massachusetts.  Papers can explore the
origins, practice, practitioners, and clients of the Gothic Revival in
America, with particular focus on New England, and on the intellectual and
material expressions of the Gothic Revival in landscape design, architecture
and the decorative arts.  Proposals of 500 words or less for a 30-minute
