Hi all,
I have some comments about some of the herbs I am seeing mentioned. First
let me say that in my family virtually every illness, wound etc. is treated
either with homeopathy or herbs. We have not used antibiotics or any other
allopathic medicines in over ten years. I also teach a course in herbal
medicinals at 2 local colleges.
I looked up black walnut and it is indeed a fungcide. It is also used as a
tea to dry up milk during weaning. It may be prudent to use it sparingly in
a lactating breast even externally because of its ability to dry milk
secretion. Tea Tree oil is also a wonderful funguscide, however I am not
comfortable using it on breasts because it can be toxic.
I am awaiting a response from an herbalist regarding its use for nipple
yeast. It is also highly astringent.
Goldenseal is very good for colds but it is a very powerful herb that is
usually not recommended for children. Adults taking it in tincture form are
usually cautioned to take it for 7 days only and then stop. The tea can be
taken for two weeks. It metabolizes in the liver and toxicity for over use
can occur. I do not normally recommend nursing women use this herb. Golden
seal is not recommended during pregnancy.

There are alot of great books available on the subject of herbal therapy. It
behooves us all to thoroughly research an herbal remedy before using it or
recommending it.
My favorite and safest herb for yeast is still Calendula apllied topically.
