The question of nursing during pregnancy has been raised on Lactnet; a mother
was told to wean her 20 month old if she was planning to get pregnant; doctor
warned her that she could miscarry. I know that we've been taught that it's
OK to nurse during a pregnancy, but a funny thing happened to me TWICE-I
miscarried very early (a 3 week pregnancy both times) while breastfeeding a
20-month old! I was "reassured" that breastfeeding had nothing to do with
the miscarriage, but I've always wondered...is it possible to be a "little
bit pregnant" after all- could there be enough hormones circulating to GET
pregnant, not enough or not the right kind to MAINTAIN a pregnancy? I've
always felt funny telling moms that it was OK to nurse through a pregnancy
after my personal experience....
