Kevin Jones, state archaeologist here in Utah and myself have been
involved in a series of limited excavations on Antelope Island in the
Great Salt Lake. The historic archaeological site is a ranching
complex in use from 1850 till 1950's. We have been doing a series of
limited excavations to assist with the development of the ranch site
as part of a state park complex. During excavations this week, we
hit a small trash pit with eight beverage bottle that give us a
fairly firm date of 1935 to say 1945. But on the last screen out, a
used condom shows up. One my volunteers was, well surprised. With
the condom and the 8 whiskey bottles, must of had a great party. My
question is the date on the condom, what I have found points to Mr.
Trojan inventing the modern version in 1921. Any truth to that,
anything list might know would be of help, have not done to much
research on dating condoms.
