Just for the record for anyone who hasn't worked with the metric system, I
am almost 6'3" and could easily be buried, were I crouched to excavate, by
the collapse of a 1.2 meter deep unit. Moreover, if there were stone in the
collapsing soil I could easily be rendered unconscious or dazed, making it
impossible for me to struggle free of even this relatively minor collapse.
Whiel I do think OSHa can be somewhat draconian, and that they really do
need to figure out what archaeologist do (& how we do it), their standards
do have merit.

cheers - john
