Mr. Liss:

So far, the best available source on the Kashube's of Jones Island
is Ruth Kriehn's book "The Fisherfolk of Jones Island" published by
the Milwaukee County Historical Society (1988). You may also wish to
try "The History of Milwaukee" by John Gregory (1931) and "the History
of Milwaukee County" by Howard Louis Conard (1895?), also, "Milwaukee,
a History of a City" by Bayrd Still, SHSW. Madison 1948, and lastly,
"Trading Post of Metropolis, Milwaukee County's First 150 Years" ed.
Ralph Aderman, Milwaukee County Historical Society, 1987.

To my knowledge there has been no archaeological investigation on the island
(its actually not an island anymore after the Milwaukee Sewerage plant was
built). You may wish to contact the Milwaukee County Historical Society at
(414) 273 8288. Ask for Judy Simonsen, the chief archivist.

I hope this helps.
