Dear Diane,

This is one of my pet peeves. First of all, she needs to ask the OB/GYN if
she was given Pitocin IM or IV early on in the pregnancy, would that induce a
miscarriage (say before 20 weeks). If it won't, then certainly neither will
the small amount of oxytocin that is released during bf. If it will, why
don't they use that for abortions? Does the OB/GYN prohibit sex -
intercourse, orgasm, nipple stimulation for the 9 months of pregnancy? If he
doesn't, why is he saying bf will cause her to miscarry? Oxytocin is
stimulated during lovemaking, and there are prostoglandins in sperm, which we
all know can induce labor (if the cervix is ripe -- and can ripen it if the
time is right).

Jan -- who continually gets annoyed with people (esp. so called medical
professionals) who DON'T THINK!!!
