Hi all you sleepyheads...
What's the big deal about uninterrupted sleep, anyway? Total sleep is what
counts, not the length of the stretch without interruption. I still don't
"sleep through." Maybe I need some cereal right before bed, but the milk
would probably make me have a stomachace. Even my dogs don't sleep
uninterrupted all night. It's far easier to wake to feed a baby a couple of
times than get to sleep when your teenager is out past curfew with the family
car. Or your husband is out of town on a business trip. Or you're in a
strange hotel at a conference. etc. etc. My favorite expression for
parenting is "When you can't change the situation, change your attitude about
it."
My kids eventually moved into their own beds and refused to sleep with me
anymore except when very ill or very upset. Hubby doesn't like my snoring and
sleeps in the spare room. The dogs like sleeping with me, but Pete the
Bearded Collie noisily slurps his private parts and Cecelia the English
Setter snores. Give me a baby or toddler any day. At least they're cute.
Enjoy co-sleeping while you can.
Linda Smith, usually sleeping with the dogs Dayton, OH.
