I am currently working on several 20th c. sites in Hawaii. Little
systematic historical archaeology has been done here and I am looking for
information on working definitions and references on trash dumps, refuse
dumps, artifact scatters, and artifact caches (e.g., bottle caches).
These terms are repeatedly used interchangably here. Does anyone know of
any good textbooks, articles or CRM reports that address this issue. I
would like to help establish better usage of concisely defined terms in
the literature here. Thank you in advance.
