Hi friends-remember my case from earlier in the week, of the baby who didn't
like his head or neck handled?? This kid had a very normal physical exam all
along. I checked everything, and so did the other nurses and MDs. Well, at
about 5 days, a little swelling became palpable along the right clavicle, and
lo and behold, the xray showed a fracture! Babe is now relaxing a bit, now
that we know how to position him more comfortably, and his breast rejection
is less. Mom is able to put him to breast and express milk into his mouth. He
tried to suck from time to time, but keeps his tongue WAY back, so we are
doing some tongue exercises with him. Mom feels much better, and is doing
great. Milk supply is wonderful. Incidentally, this is surprising, since she
lost LOTS of blood, and had to have 4 units transfused after a pp hemorrhage!
Thanks to all for your input :)
