Hold on Martha. I'm composing a reply on style in academic diologue. I
hope that you as well as the fellow who "didn't like to read this
infantile crap" will be patient. After all, the parameters of a discussion
on "appropriation" are hopefully being set, someone wants to know why
postmodernism is getting all the blame, and Nan Lawler likes to see the
occasional intellectual dust-up. Those of the mind can zap right through
and delete these discussions. I do hope though you all stay. Let me
assure you blood has yet to boil as the discussion of the imminent
take-over of American archaeology by Native Americans has yet to begin as
well as the dialogue over what a loaded term "historical" can be. I know
its a bit disconcerting to go away for a relaxing weekend then come home
to find all sophomoric hell has broken loose but we all seem to live
through such experience.
