One of the interesting events happening at the SHA is the African-American
Cross Cultural Workshop being held on Wedneday, January 4th. The description,
from the advance packet is below:
This year the theme of the African-American Cross Cultural Workshop will
be African/African-American produced artifacts. This will be a show-and-tell
session. The purpose of the workshop will be to allow people from different
regions to bring along their Colonoware and other artifacts, and to compare
them with material we have only been able to read about. If you have such
artifacts, especially Colonoware, Colono-Indianware or "Proto-Colonoware,"
please bring your best and most typical examples and be prepared to discuss
your typology, their temporal placement, where they came from and what was in
association. As always, the workshop is open to anyone interested in
African-American archaeology.
