I agree, and disagree, with the concept of the process and not the race. To
make any educated assessment of an archaeological site you do need some
understanding of site formation processes, context (cultural and natural),
and many other things. However, there are so many perspectives in this world
that we might well benefit from the input of people who are particularly
interested in and sensitive to given issues. So, while it may not be the
physical race (whatever that really turns out to be as a concept), there is
an experience and perspective that comes from being labeled as part of a race
in any given place and time.
