Please note that the University of Pennsylvania has closed all PhD admissions for one year (for students entering Fall 2021 for the academic year 2021-2022). This is because Penn is missing $100 million in its current budget because of the pandemic. Let your undergraduates students know not to apply this year for next academic year. Everyone here is waiting to see what the next budget cycle will look like.

Also, I have stopped taking new PhD students in Historical Archaeology because of my age and the time most students need to complete the doctorate in archaeology. Since I am the only historical archaeologist at Penn students need to look at the many other programs (see the SHA List of Graduate Programs) and fortunately there are many excellent programs across North America and elsewhere in the world.
