Hello!
I just received a call from a pediatrician asking about our hospital's policy on (private) donor milk on our L&D floor. We are a small unit with a low risk Special Care Nursery in Washington State (closest Human Milk Bank is in Portland and we haven't used approved pasteurized milk in our small nursery). To my surprise we have nothing in our policy about this! What are your hospitals policies? Do you allow mom to bring her own donor milk? Does she have to sign a form? Do you not allow donor milk even if you are unable to provide alternative pasterized milk? Thank you!
Sheila
