I have been a Lactnet member for a long time. I remember that a woman named Janine or Jeanine (and I cannot remember her last name!) had moved to Oakville, where I was living. She was an LC and also an LLL Leader although she was not active with our group. She would print out pages of Lactnet and share them with me - she actually kept physical paper files of topics that were discussed - and then persuaded me to sign up. I moved away from Oakville more than 15 years ago, so it has been longer than that.
For me, as a Canadian, it has been a wonderful way to "meet" and learn from people passionate about breastfeeding from around the world. I wonder if part of the decreased activity could be because more people have local resources now - other LCs or breastfeeding supporters they can talk to or meet with in person? Even so, I think our lives are vastly enriched by being part of this group.
