I get a lot of questions from private practice IBCLCs all over the country
regarding insurance/reimbursement and setting up a lactation practice, but
this one is a first. I was ask about offering a fee percentage to
physicians or others who refer to this person for lactation consultation.

While it's legal for a business like a car dealership to offer a gift
certificate or money if you refer someone to them who buys a car from them. I
think that is what is sometimes called a "finder's" fee. I don't think it's
viewed the same with healthcare services. It sounds too much like
"kickbacks" and conflict of interest. Anyone have an opinion??? Liz Brooks???

Warm regards,
