Good point, but I'll stay with the small LED pen light. The headlamp works when you need both hands free, AND when your eyesight is better than mine. With trifocals, I have to look through a very small and specific part of the lens. I have problems keeping headlamps focused at distance, spot, and angle that I need. Plus, with my hair condition (bald) the light and strap rubs on bare skin. On a long, hot day, that leaves an uncomfortable rash.

Unlike you, I'm not grafting, I'm counting cells, so I have a hand free. I can better use the pencil light to aim at the exact spots I want - which is usually at some dark corner at the edge of the brood area - where the eggs start to taper off, and I want to get the limit of the egg-laying pattern.

Jerry
