...And in the opposite direction, there are some who have decided they should only put 9 frames in a 10 frame brood box.    In my humble opinion,  the brood box is not where you want less frames.    9 frames works great in honey supers for frames which have comb built out and the bees will store as more or more honey in 9 frames as they do 10.

It just does not make sense to put less frames in a 10 frame brood box or to risk violating the proper bee space by shaving frames to stuff 11 frames into a 10 frame box.
