Transformations: engaging people, theory, and practice

A Four-Field Anthropology Graduate Student Conference
Wayne State University, Detroit, MI

March 7th, 2015

The Department of Anthropology at Wayne State University invites graduate
students to submit papers to Transformations: Engaging People, Theory, and
Practice, a four-field anthropology graduate student conference to be held
at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI on March 7, 2015. Wayne State’s
strengths in the anthropology of the city and its location in Detroit, a
city undergoing tremendous changes, informs and shapes our scholarship both
inside and outside academia. We encourage submissions that equally explore
transformation and engagement through the practice of anthropology across
the subfields.

The dual theme of transformation and engagement encourages emerging
anthropologists to share work that engages people, theory, and practice
across time and space. This conference provides the opportunity to reflect
on how those engagements transform the anthropologist, the communities in
which they work, and larger conversations within the discipline.

The Deadline for Abstract Submissions is February 20, 2015. Submissions
should be 12 pt. font, double spaced, and in .pdf format. Abstracts should
be no more than 250 words. A title page which includes the paper’s title,
your name, affiliation, and contact information should also be included.
Please email submissions to: [log in to unmask], with the subject
Transformations.

The event is free and attendance is open to all students.
