Hi there,

PTP.

I am looking for help for a mom that is dealing with arrhythmia. Her baby is 3 months old. She says that she has had an irregular heart beat since the night she got home from the hospital. The cardiologist says she is having an extra 1400 beats a day - she says that it is constant (not just during breastfeeding) and she feels dizzy, tired and her chest feels off. She has been on a med for the irregular heartbeat for a week and it has not helped, and is contemplating giving up breastfeeding to test if it is causing the problem. She has had her thyroid tested and doc says it is functioning fine. Other meds/supps mom is on: Colace for hemorrhoids and pre-natal vitamins from Trader Joe's.

A quick look in the archives indicates to me that arrhythmia can happen as a result of breastfeeding, but what can be done about it? This mom loves to breastfeed - this is her second baby - but is at her end feeling so poorly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Very warmly,

Katherine Havener
