"This is in northeastern MA, so they shouldn't have survived outside through all the cold months. "            
We have often noticed wax moth early in the spring in our warehouse, which is "cold" storage here in Alberta, it seems to kill all stages of wax moth, they need to cool down quickly, as we have seen them in the spring after exposure to our -40c in the winter.
