Okay, I feel so much better.  After decades of experiencing snowfall and never ever seeing a perfect snowflake, and being told I simply needed more controlled  conditions to observe a snowflake, it turns out the classic snowflake occurs once every thousand flakes, and the other 999 flakes look more like the 999 flakes I see 100% of the time.  The slide show lends some credence to the argument.
