I've used a Livescribe smartpen for a couple of years.  They allow you to take notes differently in that you will have an audio recording of the event/meeting as well as a digital record of your scribblings that links the moment you scribbled to the audio at that point.  I loved it for many reasons, HOWEVER, if you are a Mac user, the software is not updated well for us.  When you update your OS the Livescribe begins behaving badly then you can't get support from the user site.  With reluctance, I put my pen away this year and have not used it since.  If only tech support could keep up and be responsive.....
