Your unidentified white material could simply be crystallized honey in open cells.  It could also be mite feces.  Not seeing it I would hazard to guess its probably crystallized honey.  While mite feces can be in large numbers if infestation is large I personally have never seen the amount high enough to be confused with crystallized sugar.
