After I got my MS I attended a symposium. My registration included my rank
at the time- Lieutenant Commander, USN or LCdr Truesdell. The registrars
had no idea what that abbreviation meant, especially what a Doctorate in LC
was all about, so for the duration of the conference I was Dr. Truesdell. I
was a certified bogus PhD of LC, or an LCDr. Amazing how much deference I
was given and how smart I became just because of my name tag.

Back to the point. George Imire was mentioned and he was a friend who I met
through his Pink Pages and later in person. I included his pages in the
State newsletter I edited and sent him the newsletter and would comment on
it.

He was a great beekeeper and the embodiment of what a Master Beekeeper
should be. I still practice much of what he preached. But most of his
teaching was directed to the hobby or sideline beekeeper. Labor costs would
make quite a bit of what he taught inappropriate for the commercial
beekeeper. It was labor intensive, such as two honey extractions in the
season. BUT HIS TEACHING WORKED (he loved caps).
