Swarms are much more numerous this year it seems. Most probably from kept hives. However, some are coming from feral hives. I have been monitoring a feral hive for 4 years that has lived continuously. I check it early in the year, before drones are flying and it has been alive. Doing very well judging from the traffic in and out. I have hives within 1/2 mile that have varroa so that hive would most likely be infected and resistant. Hard to say what those bees would do in a commercial yard.
